>> Read more]]> The Capital Punishment Center will be hosting a conference on March 22 & 23 on the topic of “Mass Incarceration and the Death Penalty.”  The conference will take place in the Eidman Courtroom, CCJ 2.306, at The University of Texas School of Law.  The conference will include a keynote and several panels featuring leading scholars in the field.  More information on the conference and registration is available at the Capital Punishment Center’s website.

AJCL will publish the papers from this conference in Volume 41.  AJCL members will thus have the opportunity to hear some of the journal’s esteemed authors present and discuss their work before encountering it in the editing process.  This is a unique opportunity for our journal and one that we are especially excited about.

We will be holding a study break in the office this Thursday starting at 11am. We will have wraps and cookies from Jason’s Deli so please stop by any time to take a break and pick up some fuel!

This is just a reminder that we are collecting books this week to donate to an organization that sends them to people in prison (http://insidebooksproject.org/). If you have any books that you’d be willing to give, you can bring them in tomorrow and put them in our bin in the atrium.

The Federalist Society is hosting a “Cops and Criminals” event Tuesday, November 13th at 12pm. The event is non-partisan, and features Jack Kress, who performed the studies that led to the Sentencing Reform Act of 1984. His event will also feature a firearm simulation exercise that replicates portions of training that NYC PD officers undergo, and helps the audience to understand the dilemma police officers face when they confront situations in

In addition, next week we will be hosting a book drive for the Inside Books Project to provide books to incarcerated individuals throughout Texas.
